This year’s summer reading theme is Plant a Seed, Read! — a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and trying something new through reading.
From May 30 through August 1, grow your reading life with books, new experiences, and meaningful community connections. Challenge yourself to explore different genres, attend library events, and discover resources that inspire creativity and learning.
Whether you read a little or a lot, there’s something for everyone—and plenty of ways to participate at your own pace.
Don’t forget: we also have exciting summer reading programs for kids and teens, so the whole family can join in and make this a summer full of stories, connection, and fun.
Participation is easy—just follow these steps:
- Download the Beanstack app on your phone to get started. If you already have an account, you can use it to join this challenge. If not, set one up with your email address—it's free and easy.
- Read and log your hours on the Beanstack app to earn virtual badges.
- Enjoy the journey! If you need any assistance, let a library staff member know. We are here to help!
Reading and Activity Badges
During the summer reading program, you'll have the chance to win awesome prizes! Use the Beanstack app to unlock badges, log your reading times, and earn virtual tickets effortlessly.
Badges: For each badge you earn, you'll be awarded virtual tickets that you can use to enter prize drawings.
Reading Badges: You earn badges based on the time you spend reading. To complete the program, you need to read for 24 hours (1440 minutes) and earn a total of 24 badges.
Bonus Reading Badges: Want to read more? We offer an additional 24 bonus hours, allowing you to earn even more virtual tickets!
Activity Badges: We also have an assortment of summer activity badges that can help you earn extra tickets.
Virtual Tickets
- After you earn tickets, you can assign them to prize drawings that take place at the end of the summer.
- Even if you only unlock a handful of tickets, you still have a chance to win big. Increase your odds of winning by reading more!
- The last day to earn and enter tickets for a drawing is Friday, August 1st.
Prizes
Registration Prize: When you sign up, you’ll earn 5 tickets just for joining, which you can use to enter prize drawings! You can also pick up a reading tracker after you register to help keep track of your summer reading progress.
Completion Prize: After completing 24 hours (1440 minutes) of reading, you will have finished the summer reading program. Claim this badge as a proud finisher—and enjoy 10 bonus tickets as a reward for all your hard work!
Summer Reading Halfway Prize: Anyone who reads for 12 hours (720 minutes) by July 1st will automatically be entered into a drawing for one of these 5 prizes:
- Lego Botanicals Building Set — 1 Winner
- Challenging Adult Puzzle — 1 Winner
- Market Basket Gift Card — 2 Winners
- Gardening Swag Bag — 1 Winner
- Reading Swag Bag — 1 Winner
Summer Reading Main Ticket Prize Options:
There are six main prizes this year. You can spread your tickets across multiple prizes or go all in on your top choice—the decision is yours! Below are all of the main prize options available this year:

$100 book shopping spree to build your perfect collection. Each selected book will be professionally covered library-style for a polished look, and winners will also receive a personalized library stamp to make their collection uniquely theirs.
